Surreal Art And The Influence Of Dali

Some of us in the art world seem to gravitate toward the surreal. Artists like Salvador Dali are the influence, and with all the events happening around the world, there seems to be a resurgence of surreal works. While there were specific themes or genres during the 1960's, 70's, 80's and 90's, the 21st Century seems to be a hodgepodge of works and the term modern day master, is not being used the way it was when Dali and Picasso were in competition for the top slot of the 20th Century. We see artists like Lady Gaga using Salvador Dali Icons and others making a bold statement using bizzare fashion or makeup and big colorful hair. All of these ideas were created by Dali and his wife Gala back in the 1960's and 70's. As we study the current market, we see the surreal taking a place at the table and pushing other cetegories to the side. Don't be surprised if you look at your watch and it starts to melt before your eyes. Visit the website attached for examples of modern day surrealism.
